Justin Long ’16 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Thailand. Long, a linguistics interdisciplinary studies major, studied in Ecuador during his junior year.

Evelyn Torsher ’17 has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Arabic in Amman, Jordan.  She also received a CLS in 2015 and studied in Morocco.

Hamilton’s Spring 2016 Program in Washington group visited the White House’s Executive Office Building on March 2 for a meet and greet with alumni on President Obama’s staff, ahead of the group’s upcoming West Wing tours scheduled from March 7 to 11.

Students on the Hamilton Program in New York City explored contrasting lifestyles  of the early 1900s when they  recently visited the Museum of the City of New York and the J.P. Morgan Library and Museum.

Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) students visited the island of Mallorca on Feb. 19-21. The island has become known in recent years as a prominent tourist destination, though human history on the island goes back as far as the Paleolithic period (6000 to 4000 B.C.).

Very few study abroad experiences offer a chance to be truly independent. While some may allow their students to pursue directed research projects, they are often within bounds predetermined by the program. However, during the first semester of Hamilton’s Adirondack Program during the fall of 2015, students not only had a chance to be independent in their academic pursuits, but they were also able to explore areas of interest outside of their comfort zone by way of internships.

Hamilton’s Program in New York City recently enjoyed an outing to the New York City Ballet's production of "Music Director's Choice" – a fabulous combination of pieces selected by the newly appointed music director Andrew Litton.

Ana Castro Reynoso ’17 plans to study in Morocco, Bolivia and Viet Nam in the SIT International Honors Program/Comparative: Climate Change: The Politics of Food, Water, and Energy.

Last week, 28 students from Hamilton, Grinnell, Scripps and Smith College visited the Spanish region of Andalusia as part of the  Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain orientation trip. Andalusia is the most populated Spanish Autonomous Community.   Among other products, Andalusia is also known for its olive oil production.

Last semester, Hamilton students enrolled in Professor Phil Klinkner's Government 223 class were educated on the political dynamics of the presidential nomination process, paying special attention to the 2016 election cycle.  The class presented students with the unique opportunity to earn half of the class' credit in the traditional classroom setting while earning the other half credit by volunteering on a presidential campaign over their winter breaks.  Brian Ferrell '16 worked on Republican Jeb Bush's campaign in Iowa and Mike Verostek '16 was a volunteer with Hillary Clinton's campaign  in New Hampshire. Today and on Monday, Jan. 25, their articles recount the experiences of just two of the students who took advantage of this extraordinary opportunity.
