From their very first days on the hill, Hamilton students dedicate major portions of their college careers to community outreach and volunteer service. The Hamilton College COOP, or Community Outreach and Opportunity Project, provides Hamilton students with countless rewarding opportunities to volunteer and lend a helping hand to those in need.

Hamilton Association for Volunteering Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) sponsored its 14th annual Dodgeball tournament on Saturday, Nov. 7, and 20 teams raised more than $900 for Team IMPACT. Team IMPACT is a non-profit organization that matches children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses with college athletic teams.

In the wake of today’s vintage fashion craze, thrift shopping has become increasingly popular among college students and young adults across America. At Hamilton College, a select group of savvy students tapped into their sustainable side and hosted an on-campus fundraising event that appealed to the fashion preferences of the masses.

Hamilton's women's ice hockey team and men's and women's golf teams recently took part in the community clean-up in Clinton and New Hartford. Team members raked leaves and did other clean-up in preparation for winter for people who needed assistance with yard work.

The Tolles Pavilion was abuzz with laughter, children’s music, and scribbling crayons this week during Hamilton Sidekicks’ annual Meet and Greet. Launched in 2012, Hamilton Sidekicks works to match college students with 1st through 4th grade students from Clinton Elementary School in pairs to foster lasting mentorships.

The 14th annual Hamilton College Fall Fest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10, from noon to 4 p.m., on the Clinton Village Green. The event is free and open to the public.

More than 125 Hamilton students took part in the 14th annual Hamilton Association for Volunteering Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) Make a Difference Day. Individual students, teams and groups signed up for a wide range of volunteer opportunities to engage in for the day.

The 475 members of Hamilton’s Class of 2019 got a glimpse of the area and at the same time helped area non-profit agencies when they participated in the 8th annual Hamilton Serves on Aug. 26.  Students spent the morning volunteering at one of 43 local non-profit agencies.

Hamilton College received an award for the highest average contribution among all colleges from the 2015 America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk.  Held this past March in Utica, The Heart Run & Walk is an annual fund raising event for the American Heart Association, and every year many Hamilton students and employees participate.

The Hamilton College Community Farm Garden is moving into its eighth year this fall, but even during the summertime students and staff are busy tending to the ¾ acre plot. The farm was founded in 2007 with the intent to “create a forum where knowledge of food and agriculture is intentionally cultivated to strengthen the relationship between the Hamilton Community and the land that supports (it).”
