The opening of the Wellin Museum of Art’s two new exhibitions, Yun-Fei Ji:The Intimate Universe and Pure Pulp: Contemporary Artists Working in Paper at Dieu Donné, was attended by a large receptive crowd that included several arts writers. The result has been several articles about the shows in significant arts publications reaching audiences far removed from Clinton, N.Y.

After three years of programming featuring 13 exhibitions, 8 publications, 70 public programs and well over 30,000 visitors, the Wellin Museum of Art can add a new milestone to its roster of accomplishments. The museum will be working with distinguished publisher DelMonico Books/Prestel, a subsidiary of Random House, to co-publish and distribute the museum's forthcoming publications.

The Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art welcomed visiting artists Renée Stout and Karen Hampton on Nov. 4 for Artists in Conversation, a panel discussion about their exhibitions currently on view. Hamilton faculty, students and community members gathered in The Overlook classroom— and there was not an empty seat in the house.

Contemporary artist Renée Stout and textile artist Karen Hampton will present a lecture focusing on their creative process and artwork currently on display at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 4:15 p.m., in the Wellin Museum overlook on Hamilton’s campus. The lecture, part of the Wellin’s Artists in Conversation series, is free and open to the public.

The dedication of Morris House as Hamilton’s newest residence hall and a lecture by career diplomat Thomas Pickering about the status of Iran will be among highlights of Hamilton’s Fallcoming Weekend, Oct. 1-4. Football, men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey will host games on Saturday, a capella groups will perform and the Alumni Association will hold its annual recognition dinner.

“Class of 2015,” a longitudinal portrait project comprising photographs and video interviews that examine the development of personal identity among a group of students from Hamilton's class of 2015, will open at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on June 4. Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight began this series in 2011, when he started teaching at Hamilton. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Since the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art opened in 2012, its permanent collection has grown through gifts and select purchases. Wellin Collects, opening May 5, showcases new and recent acquisitions in a variety of media. Senior Art Thesis 2015, also opening on May 5, displays new work by graduating art majors. Spanning drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture, the exhibition represents a culmination of their studies.

A routine meeting about a school visit to the Wellin Museum between representatives of the museum and a Clinton Middle School art teacher has led to a rewarding collaboration for both Hamilton College students and Clinton middle schoolers.
