  • From environmental justice in Flint, Mich., to hospitality in Thailand, Hamilton students made the most of their summer breaks by tackling internships in a breadth of fields and locales. Here are a selection of those learning experiences.

  • This past summer, numerous Hamilton students watched presidential candidates travel the country debating, meeting voters, and addressing some of the most pressing issues facing America. Peri Kessler ’22, Jarrod Gerstein ’20, Gabrielle Colchete ’21, and Sarine Arzoumanian ’22 did more than follow the action—they were on the ground organizing, fundraising, and spreading the messages of their respective candidates. Through their internships, each student had the opportunity to connect with the American political process and make a difference in the 2020 election cycle.

  • Participating in the Digestive Disease Summer Research Program at Massachusetts General Hospital this summer has solidified Ishan Bhatia’s ’20 desire to conduct cancer research and attend medical school.

  • When most people stop by the baseball stadium over the summer, they find their seats, grab a hot dog, watch the game, and hope a foul ball flies their way. But when Justin Leigh ’20 goes to the stadium, he means business. Specifically, sales business.

  • This summer, Kelli Mackey ’20 is participating in an educational internship with St. Paul’s School. She helps teach summer boarding school students and supervises them outside of classes, developing her leadership and instruction capabilities.

Many students kept academics at the top of their summer “To-Do” list by collaborating on research projects with faculty. Others explored possible careers through internships supported by the College.   • When Jesse Elmer ’21 helped plan Hamilton’s History Club outing to the Seward House Museum in Auburn, N.Y., he didn’t know that the trip would lead him to his summer internship.

  • A music major, Melo Albino ’20 commits himself to music studies during the school year. And as an intern for Red Roof Records, a broadcasting station and record label, he’s spent the summer continuing that commitment.

  • Boyle Heights is a vibrant, tight-knit neighborhood with a long history of activism on the East Side of Los Angeles. Over the years, a wide-range of nonprofit organizations have risen to uplift the community in a multitude of ways while addressing important issues impacting the area.
