  • Maine Coast, White Mountains, Adirondacks …. The Hamilton Outing Club has been out and about conquering mountains and seas around the Northeast this month. Dedicated leaders, members, and directors of the Outing Club have been savoring the autumn weather.

  • As a part of their summer summer sustainability internship, Emma Karsten ’18 and Olivia Shehan ’18 researched ways to both reduce Hamilton’s carbon generation and beautify the campus at the same time. One strategy they identified was to reduce certain acreage mowed by the College, by way of low mow zones and pollinator gardens.

  • Five students spent the Fall Break AXB volunteering at Pathfinder Village, a residential community for individuals with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities in Edmeston, N.Y.

  • Hamilton College has formed a Blue Ribbon Committee to strengthen fraternity and sorority life on campus. The committee was convened by Vice President and Dean of Students Terry Martinez following an external review of Greek life that took place during the spring 2018 semester.

  • Hamilton’s Model United Nations team participated in the Boston Area Model United Nations (BARMUN) conference from Oct. 4 to Oct. 7 in Boston, Mass. The team competed against other North American colleges and had the opportunity to meet other students with similar interests. The keynote speaker was Munira Khalif, the 2017-2018 United Nations Youth Observer.

  • Hamilton’s Model United Nations (MUN) team competed in the Columbia Model United Nations in New York (CMUNNY) conference from Sept. 27 to Sept. 30 in New York City. The conference invited colleges from all over North America to compete over the weekend, engaging students in 19 specialized committees.

  • On Sept. 21 to 23 Hamilton students flooded the Adirondack Park, hungry for the High Peaks. The Outing Club sent out 20 trips to conquer the 46 peaks above 4,000 feet in the Park as marked by the original surveying. The tradition started in 1995 and every year since, Hamilton students have been attempting this feat. This year the club managed to get a student on 40 of the 46 Peaks.

  • Nicole Taylor ’19 has been helping Hamilton students vote since her first year on campus. Taylor explained, “I would be talking to my new friends about politics and I’d say, ‘Well, you know, the only way you can really voice your opinion at this stage in your life is to vote. Are you registered to vote?’ and they’d be seniors and they’d say, ‘No.’” This led her to teach some of her peers about the registration process and ultimately helped foster her passion for campus voter engagement.

  • The Hamilton Outing Club is proud to welcome 15 to new leaders to the community after last weekend’s leader training session. The participants sacrificed their weekend to learn what it takes to be a leader for the Outing Club. They spent time in and around the Glen House learning the necessary and important skills for leading a successful trip.

  • Students have been back on campus for less than two weeks, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting busy with clubs and organizations, and events on and off-campus. Over the past two weeks they’ve enjoyed a “Hamchella” concert and cooled off at CAB Waterfest.
