Four members of Hamilton College women's crew are 2014 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete selections.

Hamilton College women's crew member Caroline Walton '15 (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles Central School) has been selected for the 2014 Division III Pocock All-America Team by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Kristine Oren '14 competed in the pole vault on the women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams. Kristine was a four-time NESCAC all-academic team honoree for the winter and spring seasons. She recently was elected to the Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, which is the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society.

The Hamilton College Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, initiated 24 members of the Class of 2014 to associate membership on May 23 at the annual banquet in the Taylor Science Center Atrium. Three faculty members were initiated as full members.

Many Hamilton students take full advantage of the College’s open curriculum by exploring an assortment of new disciplines in their first year. Sometimes these academic adventures lead to unexpected careers. When Sarah Hammond ’14 registered for Introduction to Computer Science, she had no experience in the subject. Four years later after double concentrating in math and computer science, she is set to begin a career in software development at Amazon.com. Hammond was the valedictorian of the Class of 2104.

In his address at Hamilton College’s commencement, award-winning author and journalist Christopher Dickey advised the Class of 2014 that “What counts is flexibility and creativity: our ability to take what we've learned in life and school and work, and think about it and build on it, and combine it with the new things being thrown at us by a world full of hugely creative people.”

Adrian Walsh '16 (Bozeman, Mont./Cate School [Calif.]) of the Hamilton College women's track & field team placed ninth in the women's 10,000-meter run at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Thursday night.

Hamilton College's Landon Morin '16 (Kent, Conn./Kent School) and Caroline Walton '15 (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles Central School) have been selected for the 2013-14 Eastern College Athletic Conference National Invitational Rowing Championships Stewards Men's and Women's All-Star Teams.

Long-time Hamilton College philosophy professor and former head men's golf coach Bob Simon and his wife Joy received honorary Hamilton athletic department watches at the 2014 Jack B. Riffle Dinner for Senior Varsity Athletes. The awards were presented by Director of Athletics Jon Hind '80 to the Simons for their four decades of devotion to the College's intercollegiate programs.

The Hamilton College men's soccer team recently collected and donated more than 1,200 children's books and over 50 Hamilton College men's soccer T-shirts to Denti Elementary School in Rome, N.Y.
