The Business of Giving, a unique radio program that focuses on the world’s social problems and their possible philanthropic solutions, will air a pre-recorded interview with host Denver Frederick and President David Wippman and trustee Aron Ain this Sunday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m.

While the Broadway musical Hamilton took the nation by storm in 2016, there was plenty happening at the “original” Hamilton too. Here’s a look back at the stories that garnered the greatest attention on the College’s news site this year, based on the number of views.

After months of planning, the inauguration of David Wippman as Hamilton’s 20th president will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Walter Mondale, the 42nd vice president of the United States, will offer brief remarks

Hamilton played host to a conversation of critical importance on the nature of higher education as it relates to concepts of growing multiculturalism, inclusivity and difference, titled “Considering Global Education in an Interconnected World.” Hamilton president David Wippman was among the speakers.

“Today marks the official start of Hamilton’s 205th year, but it also marks the start of your first year—and mine,” proclaimed President David Wippman in his remarks at the College’s Convocation ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Interim Dean of Faculty Margaret Gentry also spoke and welcomed new students and faculty.

If you weren’t already planning to make it back to College Hill for Fallcoming & Family Weekend on Oct. 6-9, now you have another reason to do so: Hamilton will inaugurate David Wippman as the College’s 20th president that Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Walter Mondale, the 42nd vice president of the United States, will offer brief remarks.

Having arrived on campus on June 26, members of the Opportunity Program were among the first of the Class of 2020 to meet the college’s new president. David Wippman, who arrived on campus almost simultaneously with the students, joined the group of 39 for a photo followed by lunch on July 5.

Hamilton’s choir had a special guest when they performed in St. Paul on their spring tour last week. Hamilton President-elect David Wippman attended the performance. Wippman is currently dean of the University of Minnesota Law School and will become president of Hamilton on July 1.  

The Hamilton College Board of Trustees has elected unanimously David Wippman, the William S. Pattee Professor of Law and dean of the University of Minnesota Law School, to be the College’s 20th president. The appointment is effective July 1, 2016.
