Samantha Graber ’16 presented a poster titled “The Hardscrabble Wind Farm in Herkimer County: A Five-Year Update” at the 41st Annual Northeastern Storm Conference held in Saratoga Springs on March 4-6. The work she presented was based on her senior thesis with Prof. Cynthia Domack in the Hamilton College Geosciences Department.

Kevin A. Herrera ’16 presented a poster titled “Lightning Protection: Past, Present and Future on the Hamilton College Campus” at the 41st Annual Northeastern Storm Conference held March 4-6 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. His work was based on his senior thesis with Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack.

Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack and students in Geoscience 390 - Advanced Paleontology: Special Topics in Paleobiology and the Fossil Record visited Little Falls, N.Y., on Oct. 13 to collect fossils.

Alexandra Kontra ’15 presented a poster titled “Coastal Protection in Avalon, New Jersey: Hard and Soft Structuring from 2005 to 2014” at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section.   The work Kontra presented in the Marine/Coastal Science session was based on her senior thesis with Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack.

Felipe A. Ramirez ’15 presented a poster titled “Paleohydrologic Evolution of Lake Systems in the Washakie and Piceance Basins, Wyoming and Colorado” at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America – Northeastern Section.

Hannah Wagner ’15 presented a poster titled “Rusophycus in the Herkimer Formation Building Materials on the Hamilton College Campus” at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section. The conference was held in Bretton Woods, N.H., on March 23-25 and the technical program consisted of symposia, theme and general sessions, arranged in oral and poster format.

Hannah G. Haskell ’15 presented a poster titled “Beach Erosion and Restoration at Cape May Point, New Jersey” at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section.

Two Hamilton Geoscience Department colleagues were recently recognized with the publication of two newly described fossil trilobite species. Olenellus baileyi and Holmiella domackae were named in honor of David Bailey and Cynthia Domack, respectively, in recognition of the “important influence on the professional development” of senior author Wes Gapp.

Colyer Woolston, a senior with a passion for the natural sciences, had an opportunity to share his interest in paleontology recently when he mentored John Musante, a first grade student at Clinton Elementary School.

Emma L. Hedley, a senior in the Geosciences Department, presented a poster titled “Beach Nourishment at Virginia Beach, Virginia” at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section.  Hedley’s work in coastal geology was presented as a poster in the Coastal/Marine Science session and her abstract was published in GSA Abstracts with Programs Vol. 46, No. 2.
