Young artists who may not have time for a formal commitment to one department find outlets for their creative energy in organizations like Untitled@Large. Untitled is Hamilton’s premiere student theatre company.

Last weekend marked the beginning of a special time of year for the Outing Club -- the initiation of new leaders into the community. The first of two HOC Leader training weekends began Saturday morning in the Glen Haus, the Outing Club’s on-campus headquarters. These training weekends run in conjunction with a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification course from SOLO Wilderness Medicine which will take place Oct. 7 and 8. After completing both parts of the certification, the new leaders will be qualified to lead trips for their peers.

Four groups of students participate in backpacking trips, and the College's Marathon Canoe Racing Team takes part in the grueling 90-mile Adirondack Canoe Classic.

The college’s C.H.F. Peters Astronomical Observatory, located a short walk from the center of campus on Peters Lane, will host an eclipse party for them and any other interested members of the Hamilton community on Monday, Aug. 21 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art at Hamilton College hosted a pizza party on June 29 for the student workers who remained on campus this summer. Organized by Johnson-Pote Wellin Director Tracy L. Adler, the event was intended to be a welcome change of pace for the students, accustomed to living on a near-dormant campus, as well as a closing celebration for Julia Jacquette’s Wellin exhibition, Unrequited and Acts of Play.

Six Hamilton Outing Club (HOC) members who have trained together, led trips in tandem, and have gathered innumerable times in the Glen House are ready to set off in different directions, having secured outdoor leadership positions.

Rapper Lupe Fiasco headlined the annual Class & Charter concert on May 5 in the Field House. Rapper Luke Christopher opened the show and DJ Bradley was selected from among Hamilton student DJs to do a 20-minute set to start off the event.

The Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG) led 30 Hamilton students to Washington, D.C. for the People's Climate March on Saturday, April 29. This student-organized and student-led trip started with 1 a.m. departure from campus to reach D.C. in time for the march.

Students on Hamilton’s Poetry Slam Team recently competed in the 2017 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. CUPSI 2017 included 72 teams from around the globe and was hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago from April 12 through 16.

On any given day throughout the region, Hamilton students can be seen tutoring secondary school students, providing clean-up crews for elderly homeowners, and helping local agencies with everything from preparing grants to painting buildings. In 2016, students spent 25,643 hours volunteering.
