  • Hamilton’s Model United Nations team participated in the Boston Area Model United Nations (BARMUN) conference from Oct. 4 to Oct. 7 in Boston, Mass. The team competed against other North American colleges and had the opportunity to meet other students with similar interests. The keynote speaker was Munira Khalif, the 2017-2018 United Nations Youth Observer.

  • On Sept. 21 to 23 Hamilton students flooded the Adirondack Park, hungry for the High Peaks. The Outing Club sent out 20 trips to conquer the 46 peaks above 4,000 feet in the Park as marked by the original surveying. The tradition started in 1995 and every year since, Hamilton students have been attempting this feat. This year the club managed to get a student on 40 of the 46 Peaks.

  • Hockey’s Stanley Cup made an appearance at Sage Rink on Sept. 23 as part of Clinton’s Hockeyville celebration. Clinton, N.Y., winner of the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest, will host a preseason game between the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets on Sept. 25 at the Clinton area.

  • Nicole Taylor ’19 has been helping Hamilton students vote since her first year on campus. Taylor explained, “I would be talking to my new friends about politics and I’d say, ‘Well, you know, the only way you can really voice your opinion at this stage in your life is to vote. Are you registered to vote?’ and they’d be seniors and they’d say, ‘No.’” This led her to teach some of her peers about the registration process and ultimately helped foster her passion for campus voter engagement.

  • The Hamilton Outing Club is proud to welcome 15 to new leaders to the community after last weekend’s leader training session. The participants sacrificed their weekend to learn what it takes to be a leader for the Outing Club. They spent time in and around the Glen House learning the necessary and important skills for leading a successful trip.

  • Hamilton College Performing Arts announces an exciting season of music, theater and dance for the 2018-19 season in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. All performances are at 7:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

  • It’s summer, and the stream of fervent energy that fuels life on the Hill for most of the year has slowed to a trickle. Much of campus lies dormant now: there is no smell of bacon wafting out of Commons or McEwen in the early morning, and times like 11:15 or 2:30 no longer draw hordes of backpack-wearing students walking from one class to another on Martin’s Way. In the back corner of campus, however, there is a familiar hum of activity rattling the lethargy of hot summer afternoons and evenings.

  • Students started creating Hamilton’s community mosaic mural on Jan. 27 and 28 with the help of Boston artist Josh Winer. The mosaic is being built to illustrate inclusivity and community.

  • Team Varga was the overall winner of the 2018 HamTrek triathlon with a time of 59:02.39, Men’s swimming and diving team member Chris Klein ’18 was the male individual winner with a time of 1:01:02.82, and Assistant Professor of Geosciences Cat Beck was the top female individual at 01:09:10.29.
