  • Eight paddlers from Hamilton College’s Marathon Canoe Racing team took part in the annual Long Lake Long Boat Regatta on Sept. 24. Hamilton reclaimed the cup this year, prevailing over reigning champions from Paul Smith’s College by a narrow 5-second margin.

  • The Hamilton College Performing Arts Series opens with baritone Jubilant Sykes, on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. The Grammy-nominated baritone brings a new dimension to the traditional vocal recital by drawing on gospel and jazz influences. Sykes is joined by guitarist Christopher Parkening and pianist Mark Rice for a unique performance that ranges from classical, Broadway and jazz standards to spirituals.

  • The Fillius Jazz Archive presents a film, Joe Williams: A Portrait in Song, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall. The concert documentary was filmed in Wellin Hall on September 7, 1996. This 20th anniversary screening is free and open to the public.
