Assistant Professor of Psychology Ravi Thiruchselvam recently published a paper titled “Neural Processing of Emotional-intensity Predicts Emotion Regulation Choice” in the journal Social, Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN).

Margaret Gentry, interim vice president, academic affairs and dean of faculty, announced the appointment of new faculty for the 2016-17 academic year, including nine tenure-track appointments, 17 visiting professors and instructors, five lecturers and two teaching fellows.

Assistant Professor of Psychology Ravi Thiruchselvam recently published an article in Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN). The article presented the results of a study conducted with Jessica Harper ’15 and Abigail Homer ’16.

This summer, psychology majors Barbara Singhakiat ’17, Leah Pranschke ’17 and Jaclyn Zingman ’18 are conducting social psychology research under the supervision of Professor of Psychology Jennifer Borton. Their work examines reductions in working memory following ego threat in people with defensive self-esteem.

Hamilton College’s highest awards for teaching were presented to four faculty members during the annual Class & Charter Day ceremony on May 9.

Six Hamilton faculty members were recognized for their research and creative successes with the Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards, presented by Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds on Class & Charter Day on May 9.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology Azriel Grysman was the co-author of articles published recently in the journals Memory and Memory & Cognition. The articles report results research on gender and memory, conducted with his colleagues at Emory University.

A paper titled “Unearthing the ‘Green’ Personality: Core Traits Predict Environmentally Friendly Behavior,” co-authored by Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology Cameron Brick, was referenced in an article that appeared in the Santa Barbara Independent (Santa Barbara, Calif.) on April 10.

Hamilton College students are currently on spring break but that didn’t prevent science faculty from mesmerizing some other willing students with awe-inspiring demonstrations this week.
