Amy Harff ’21, Jiin Jeong ’21, and Liam Prum ’21 have been named Watson Fellows, with each receiving a $36,000 stipend to pursue a “year of independent, purposeful exploration” abroad. The prestigious Thomas J. Watson Fellowship is awarded to graduating seniors nominated by one of 41 partner institutions.

At the end of my work day, I do what any college student would at the end of a warm, clear summer day: I take a walk, make dinner, and get started on homework. It’s true. I spend most evenings completing exercises for my online data science course, which Hamilton offers through the Liberal Arts Collaborative for Digital Innovation (LACOL). The course includes 11 Hamilton students and dozens more from other colleges, such as Swarthmore and Williams, and is taught by professors throughout the LACOL system.

In the spring semester computer science course “Wearable Tech,” students learned how to create fun, useful gadgets that could attach to a variety of items, from hoodies to baseball gloves to plants, to relay information and provide additional services.
