  • Tim Minella '09, a double major in government and physics, has been honored with the Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Award by the American Astronomical Society (AAS). These awards are given to recognize exemplary research by undergraduate and graduate students who present at one of the poster sessions at the meetings of the American Astronomical Society. Minella presented results of his research at the 213th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Long Beach, Calif., in January. The awardees receive a Chambliss medal and a certificate.

  • Emily Powell, a senior majoring in comparative literature and Hispanic studies, has received a $1,000 award to pursue a campus/community project through the Carter Academic Service Entrepreneur (CASE) program conducted by New York Campus Compact (NYCC).

  • Leeann Brigham '09, one of Hamilton's Senior Fellows, is profiled in a column in her hometown newspaper, The Troy Record (12/19/08). Brigham is studying an animal model of schizophrenia as her Senior Fellow project. She hopes to spend next year at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden studying the neural circuits involved in motor control.

  • Eric Kuhn '09 wrote a column for The Huffington Post on Jan. 5 in which he interviewed Ali Velshi, CNN's chief business correspondent and host of CNN's weekend business roundtable program Your $$$$$. In the article, "CNN's Ali Velshi on Getting Your Money Back" Kuhn questioned Velshi about his new book Gimme My Money Back.

  • Rising Hamilton senior Eric Kuhn has been named a member of the UWIRE 100, a select group of undergraduate and graduate students judged the top collegiate journalists in the country. Chosen from a pool of more than 500 nominations submitted by students and educators at 132 schools, the winners hail from 66 colleges and universities.
