  • Parenting can be challenging enough but parents of autistic children sometimes need additional socialization opportunities for their children. Hamilton Autism Advocates for Neurodiversity (HAAND) is giving parents a place to turn for help with their child’s social development, said HAAND president Serena Persaud ’20.

  • Hamilton Association for Volunteering Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) helped students get to know the local community and provide service to non-profit organizations on Sept. 9 when it sponsored the 16th annual Make a Difference Day.

  • Members of the men's soccer team spent part of their day on April 29 at the Clinton Community Cleanup. Volunteers helped collect electronics for recycling, picked up trash throughout the village, and gathered food donations destined for the Country Pantry.

  • On any given day throughout the region, Hamilton students can be seen tutoring secondary school students, providing clean-up crews for elderly homeowners, and helping local agencies with everything from preparing grants to painting buildings. In 2016, students spent 25,643 hours volunteering.

  • The Community Outreach & Opportunity Project (COOP) employs senior fellows each year to help make the COOP an accessible place for service and learning in the Hamilton community and greater Clinton Area.

  • Twenty-two Hamilton students taught Spanish to Clinton Elementary School students this past semester. The program began on Oct. 3 and ended on Dec. 2. The Hamilton students attended a training workshop prior to the program to learn about different teaching strategies and develop ideas for activities.

  • Classes are over for the semester and students spent the week of December 12 taking finals and turning in final projects. That didn't prevent them though from taking a little time to get in the holiday spirit.

  • For the second year, Hamilton students served as mentors to Clinton Middle School students who are participating in Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA).  OVA is a state-wide competition where middle schoolers have the opportunity to participate in longer term art projects outside of the classroom.

  • The Hamilton community this week welcomed Everson Hull, ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Organization of American States, to meet with students and faculty involved with the upcoming spring break service trip to the island of Nevis, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. The trip will be led by a Hamilton student service organization with support from Amy James and the Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP).
