Eight Hamilton College student-athletes were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on March 5, when the organization released its 2012 Division III National Academic Squad.

Nationally ranked No. 11 William Smith College scored four goals in the first half and went on to a 4-1 non-conference win against Hamilton College at William Smith's McCooey Field on Oct. 24.

Nationally ranked No. 8 Tufts University received goals from four different players and the Jumbos handed Hamilton College a 4-1 loss in a NESCAC game at Tufts’ Bello Field on Oct. 20.

Leah Cairns '13 is a two-year starter and 2012 team captain for Hamilton College field hockey. She had missed just one game in her collegiate career heading into her final season with the Continentals, and was ready to lead the defense this year. But in the first game of the season against Trinity College, she suffered a leg injury and missed the next seven games. Leah returned to the lineup last week and played all 70 minutes in her final home game against Colby College on Sunday. She earned a spot on the 2011 NESCAC Fall All-Academic team, and played on the 2009 squad that competed in the NCAA championship for the first time in program history.

Courtney Erskine '13 and Caitlin Murray '14 posted one goal and one assist apiece and Colby College edged Hamilton College 2-1 in a NESCAC game at Hamilton's Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 14.

Katie Riley '14 notched three goals as nationally ranked No. 3 Bowdoin College shut out Hamilton College 6-0 in a NESCAC game at Hamilton’s Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 13.

Kayla DeAngelis '14 scored two goals and added an assist as SUNY Geneseo shut out Hamilton College 4-0 in a non-conference game at Hamilton’s Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 10.

Lauren Greer '13 scored a career-high five goals as nationally ranked No. 2 Middlebury College shut out Hamilton College 8-0 in a NESCAC game at Middlebury’s Kohn Field on Oct. 6.

Cary Hairfield ’15 and Caitlin Conlon ’15 scored one goal apiece as Williams College defeated Hamilton College 2-0 in a NESCAC game at Hamilton’s Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 2.

Caroline Falcone '15 scored two goals and Bates College edged Hamilton College 3-2 for the Bobcats' first NESCAC win this year at Hamilton's Campus Road Athletic Field on Sept. 29.
