  • Hamilton College President Joan Hinde Stewart has been invited and will attend an all-day summit on Thursday, Jan. 16, hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in Washington.

  • Hamilton’s Class of 2014 has voted for its Senior Gift to be funding toward a planned terrace at the Siuda House Admission Office that commemorates the Class of 2014 as the first need-blind class. The Senior Gift was announced at the Kickoff reception on Sept. 26 in the Wellin Atrium of the Taylor Science Center.

  • Say Yes to Education Inc., a national non-profit organization that helps children in urban school districts to go to and pay for college, announced that Hamilton College and 10 other private colleges and universities have joined  the organization’s higher education compact, which offers free tuition to eligible students. The announcement was made  at a media event on Capitol Hill by George Weiss, founder of Say Yes to Education, and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

  • The College’s First Year Forward (FYF) program was the focus of an article published on May 13 in The Chronicle of Higher Education titled “'Little Tricks' Help Disadvantaged Students Plot Career Paths.” The New York Times also featured Hamilton in a Sunday, May 12, front-page article titled “On a College Waiting List? Sending Cookies Isn’t Going to Help.”

  • Students accepted to Hamilton’s class of 2017 are on campus today with their families for the annual Accepted Student Open House.   • Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer made her third appearance on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 11.  Financial aid, choosing a college, and wait lists  were among the topics that Inzer, Arizona State University Executive Director of Admission David Burge, University of Michigan Undergraduate Admissions Director Ted Spencer and Today Show co-host Matt Lauer discussed.
