Visiting Assistant Professor of Government David Rivera discussed “The Impact of Putin’s Psyche on Western-Russian Relations and the War in Ukraine" in a workshop at U.S. Naval War College in Newport, R.I.

Associate Professor of Government Sharon Rivera and Lecturer in Government David Rivera were members of a panel that discussed “Russia, the West, and the War in Ukraine” on April 16 at the Center for European Studies at Syracuse University.

Associate Professor of Government Sharon Werning Rivera and Scholar-in-Residence David W. Rivera published “The Purposes of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in American Higher Education: A Brief Introduction” as a chapter in a compendium of proceedings of the Second International Business Summit.

Sharon Werning Rivera, associate professor of government, and David W. Rivera, scholar-in-residence,  published “Is Russia a Militocracy? Conceptual Issues and Extant Findings Regarding Elite Militarization,” in Post-Soviet Affairs (No. 1 2014: 27-40). Post-Soviet Affairs is one of the leading area-studies journals for political scientists working on East Central Europe and Eurasia.  

Scholar-in-Residence David W. Rivera presented two series of lectures from Nov. 22 to Dec. 3 in Moscow. The invited lectures focused on findings of ongoing research he is conducting with Associate Professor of Government Sharon Werning Rivera.

Associate Professor of Government Sharon Rivera and Scholar-in-Residence David Rivera recently published an article titled “El’tsin, Putin i prezidentskaya vlast’” (“Yeltsin, Putin, and Presidential Power”) in Politicheskie issledovaniya, or POLIS, (“Political Research”), No. 3 (2012): 19-29.

Scholar-in-Residence David Rivera presented a paper on April 27 in an event organized by the Center for European Studies and the Political Science Research Workshop at Syracuse University.
