  • Margaret W. and Joseph L. Fisher Art Gallery will be exhibiting four large format drawing installations and eight portrait studies by Raye Leith (Osserman) K’78. The gallery is located in Alexandria, Virginia, at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center.

  • Judy Silverstein Gray K’78, has published a book titled "Careers in the US Coast Guard." The Enslow Publishing website offers this description of her latest book: “The United States Coast Guard is often the first line of defense against attacks at sea. They are also the first call if there is a hurricane or a flood.  A career in the Coast Guard promises adventure, and working with diverse groups of people…”

  • Hamilton will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Kirkland charter during Reunions ’15. The New York State Board of Regents approved Kirkland’s charter in March 1965, 153 years after their approval of the original Hamilton College charter. The first class entered in 1968.

  • Kate Emlen K’72 is showing her recent painting in an exhibit Figures and Landscapes at the Thos Moser Showroom in Freeport, Maine. The opening reception is on Thursday evening, January 22nd, from 6 to 8. Thos Moser is a furniture maker whose showroom in Freeport is a long-time venue for some of Maine's premier artists. The focus of Emlen’s work is the unique beauty of Maine’s and Brittany’s landscapes. She shows at Prince Street Gallery in New York, George Marshall Store Gallery in York, Maine, and Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland, Maine, among others.

  • Genevieve Caffrey ’17 and Caroline Kreidberg ’17 recently helped organize the first Animal Rescue Law Forum for Hamilton parent Kevan Cleary P’12. It was hosted by the New York County Lawyers Association. The students set up the social media, press releases, phone calls and emails to interested parties, handled the replies and follow up and worked the night of the event.

  • Nancy Dafoe K'74 has had two published works come out in back-to-back Marches. The first is Breaking Open the Box, which is about teaching creative approaches to academic writing, came out last March. In her abstract, Nancy Dafoe says, “A methodology incorporating creativity demonstrates the kind of progress we are seeking, offering an exciting challenge for young writers and educators alike.” The other work is Writing Creatively: A Guided Journal, coming out this month.

  • On Dec.12, the Hamilton College Program in Washington D.C. students attended their farewell dinner hosted by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack ’72, and Kirkland alumnae Christie Vilsack K’72 and Barbara Stein K’72.  Tom Vilsack is  former Governor of Iowa. Christie Vilsack is senior advisor for international education at USAID, and Barbara Stein is director of strategic partnerships for the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.

  • President Joan Hinde Stewart announced the passing of Life Trustee Fran Musselman  ’50, H’05, P’75 in an e-mail to the campus community on April 5. “I write with great sadness to inform you that Life Trustee Fran Musselman’50, H’05, P’75 died peacefully yesterday after succumbing to lung cancer. His daughters were at his side. He lived 87 full years.”
