For 16-year-old Sadia Ambure, adjusting to life in America was anything but easy. After arriving in Utica from a Kenyan refugee camp, Sadia described the challenge of living through the harsh winters of Upstate New York. “I hate snow,” she said. “It hurts my skin. I’m like a snake—my face turns red, then ashy.”

Alexandra Coursen K’77 is a finalist in the international harp composition contest known as The Future Blend Project. Coursen is the only woman out of 13 finalists selected. She has only recently started composing, which only adds to this accomplishment. In 2014 she composed her first piece for the harp; by the end of the following year, she composed five others.
