Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer made her third appearance on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 11.  Financial aid, choosing a college, and wait lists  were among the topics that Inzer, Arizona State University Executive Director of Admission David Burge, University of Michigan Undergraduate Admissions Director Ted Spencer and Today Show co-host Matt Lauer discussed.

Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer will make her third appearance on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 11.  Financial aid, choosing a college, taking a gap year and wait lists are among possible topics that will be addressed by Inzer, Arizona State University Executive Director of Admission David Burge and University of Michigan Undergraduate Admissions Director Ted Spencer. Mary O’Neill, academic support coordinator and director of the Quantitative Literacy Center, presented a paper on Jan. 10 at the Joint Math Meetings of the Mathematical Association of America and the American Mathematical Society (JMM) in San Diego.

“Modeling preferential admissions at elite liberal arts colleges,” a paper by Associate Professors of Mathematics Sally Cockburn and Tim Kelly and Assistant Dean of Faculty for Institutional Research Gordon Hewitt, was published in the current issue of Research in Higher Education Journal.

Take a group of Hamilton employees eager to volunteer in the community, put them in a warehouse full of unused books headed for the discard pile, and what has evolved is a Community Bookshelf service project that benefits many local organizations.

Amit Taneja, director of the Days-Massolo Center, has been honored with a Peace Studies award from The Central New York Peace Studies Board and Peace Studies Conference Committee.  He received the award at the organization’s 23rd annual conference on Nov. 12 in Syracuse.

Director of Visual Communications Catherine D. Brown was the guest speaker at a monthly meeting of the Upstate New York branch of AIGA, the professional association for design committed to advancing design as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force.

An article appearing on The New York Times’ The Choice blog announced a forthcoming article in the Times Sunday Education Life section for which Jeannine Murtaugh, assistant director of the career center, was interviewed. “The Next Gate” addresses the graduate school admission process and includes interviews with admission representatives from graduate programs at Yale University, University of California (Berkeley) and University of Texas as well as with Murtaugh.

Assistant Dean of Faculty for Institutional Research Gordon Hewitt was part of a panel presentation on using data in the accreditation process at the annual conference of the Association for Institutional Research in Toronto on May 23.
