Daniel Chambliss, the Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology and director of Hamilton’s New York City Program, recently completed a series of campus visits that included both public lectures and consultations with administrative and faculty groups.

Dan Chambliss, the Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology, presented “How College Works - and How to Make It Work Better” on Feb. 19 at Lewis & Clark College. He discussed what colleges can do to work better and improve student success.

Dan Chambliss, the Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology, recently discussed “What Liberal Arts Colleges Do” at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. He also was awarded the prize for Scholarly Contributions to Teaching and Learning by the American Sociological Association.

Daniel Chambliss, the Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology, was recently elected to serve as an at-large member of the Council of the American Sociological Association (ASA). The Council is the 15-member governing board of the ASA and the organization’s top policy-making body.

WAMC/Northeast Public Radio will feature a reading by Daniel Chambliss, the Eugene M. From National Public Radio to The New York Times, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal, faculty and staff submissions and responses to media outlets made the college very visible.

How College Works, a book co-authored by Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology Daniel Chambliss and his former student Chris Takacs ’05, has been featured by The Chronicle of Higher Education as one of its book club selections for the last six weeks. In closing the book discussion on the Chronicle site and in social media via #ChronBooks, the publication is featuring a video of Chambliss.
