  • Andy Bradfield graduated from Hamilton College in 1998. He majored in Computer Science and minored in English and Philosophy. In 2009 he continued his education with a Masters of Computer Science from Polytechnic of NYU. Professionally since Hamilton he has spent January STEM BLOG - Andy (1)his career in the technology field working for General Electric, ITT Industries and IBM. For the last 17+ years at IBM Andy has built a proven track record of developing teams and successfully executing missions of increasing complexity and importance. In his current role, Andy is Executive Director, System Performance and Architecture for IBM Z. In this role he is responsible for end to end system performance and architecture for IBM Z leading a team of ~100 performance and architecture experts spread across Poughkeepsie, China, Germany and India. On the personal front, Andy is happily married to Maria Hillis Bradfield, Hamilton 1999. They live together in Westchester County with their daughter, Helen.

  • Jaclyn Specht graduated in 2012 with a degree in Biology. She is now a NOAA Coastal Management Fellow with the Maryland Dept of Natural Resources.

  • Knowing she wanted to be a genetic counselor, Emily Palen ’14 majored in neuroscience and spent a semester at the New England Center for Children. Her first step after College — a master’s in genetic counseling at the Boston University School of Medicine.

  • Like many fellow animal lovers, pre-veterinary student Elizabeth Egey ’19 dedicated her summer to learning more about the medicine by which she is fascinated. As someone who grew up with horses, Egey, the co-captain of Hamilton’s Equestrian Team and president of the Pre-Veterinary Club, knew she wanted to explore the passion and curiosity she fostered for large animals.

  • As a computer science major, Emily Buff ’19 is keenly aware of the intense sexism many women working in the technology industry face. This summer, she is doing her part to combat this inequality by working as a teacher’s assistant for Girls Who Code, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology.

  • Driven by a personal history punctuated with cancer loss, Alice Long ’20 has committed herself to learning more about and contributing to the existing knowledge on the incurable disease. “My grandfather, grandmother and a close friend all passed away from esophageal cancer, which has had a lasting effect on the way I perceive life,” said Long. She spent the summer doing cell research at Taiwan's National Tsinghua University.

Then there's his talent for chemistry that earned him a spot at the prestigious nuclear engineering doctoral program at the Colorado School of Mines.

  • Taylor Friedman graduated from Hamilton in 2014 with a degree in Neuroscience and Mathematics. She currently works for Unum Therapeutics as a Senior Research Associate.

  • Sara Conklin Graduated from Hamilton College in 2001 with a degree in Mathematics. She is now a Principal User Experience Architect at Pitney Bowes.
