Students in Hamilton’s Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) program visited Barcelona Nov. 4-6. The students explored the city and experienced firsthand its strong sense of identity and uniqueness.

Hundreds of Hamilton students, faculty and staff joined with students from Colgate University, Utica College and members of the local community for a rally on Nov. 15. The rally was planned in conjunction with a nationwide student movement called “Our Power Walkout,” with marches scheduled to take place at more than a dozen other institutions across the country.

A week after the 2016 Presidential election, The Spectator hosted “The Role of the Media in the 2016 Election,” the final SpecSpeak lecture of the semester. The guest was Scott Bixby ’11 who spent 16 months covering the Republican race to the White House for The Guardian. Bixby has written for several high-profile news organizations including the New Republic, Mic and The Daily Beast .

This week Hamilton celebrates National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Week, which recognizes the College’s Emergency Medical Service (HCEMS) program. The service is available to all community members of the College 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week during the year when classes are in session. The program is made up of student volunteers who all are New York State certified EMTs.

Jazz Tales from Jazz Legends: Oral Histories from the Fillius Jazz Archive at Hamilton College by Monk Rowe, the Joe Williams Director of the Fillius Jazz Archive and lecturer in music, was recently awarded a certificate of merit by the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC).
