Eleni Broadwell ’20, the recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship, is eager to teach English in Taiwan next year. “Taiwan has made great strides in the past few decades to move away from rote learning and make schooling more interactive,” Broadwell said. “There’s a greater emphasis on critical thinking skills and the arts, which I think is wonderful.”

Academic achievement prizes, prize scholarships, and other recognition of student accomplishments were announced at Hamilton’s first virtual Class & Charter Day convocation on May 11. President David Wippman announced the award recipients from the Chapel in the annual event that this year was viewable online.

This week’s Hamilton Encore features the Hamilton College Saxophone Ensemble performing the toe-tapping tune “Blister in the Sun,” arranged by saxophonist Tyler Boudreau ’20. The Sax Ensemble is part of the music department’s chamber ensemble program and is directed by Monk Rowe, the Joe Williams Director of the Jazz Archive and lecturer in saxophone.
