From providing a virtual look at India’s sacred centers to collecting oral histories in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, Hamilton’s Digital Humanities Initiative (DHi) provides students an interdisciplinary — and often interactive — approach to collaborating with faculty.

Food issues and environmentalism remain hot topics at Hamilton, as exhibited by the well-attended panel hosted by The Levitt Center Sustainability Program, “Envisioning the Future of Food.” Panelists included scholars of sociology, geography and political science.

Although STEM is focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Hamilton students who had internships in those fields emphasized that it was their liberal arts education that made them stand apart.

To round off Black History Month, the Black and Latinx Student Union (BLSU) hosted its annual talent showcase and put on a hip-hop and activism interactive presentation from Jermaine Wells and the ILL Funk Ensemble.

The Career Center and Alpha Delta Phi hosted a panel featuring alumni with careers in law, government, publishing and finance on Feb. 4. The event was moderated by Orges Llupa ’05, an analyst for Bloomberg LP.

The Hamilton Outing Club headed to the Adirondacks on Feb. 5 to take advantage of the colder temperatures needed for ice climbing. The trip was led by Gaby Pilson ’17 and Assistant Director of Outdoor leadership Sarah Weis Jillings. Participants included seasoned climbers as well as some new to the sport.

Hamilton is known for the long winters, but for the Hamilton Club Nordic Ski team the snow is the best thing to come back to after winter break. Hamilton’s Nordic team is a member of the Mideast Conference of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) and regularly competes against club teams in the New York and New England area.
