  • While many athletes turn indoors to exercise during the winter months, the Hamilton Nordic Ski team embraces the snow and even the cold. Donning only spandex in sub-zero temperatures, team members joke that the cold only encourages them to ski faster.

  • “I’ve spent the last 32 years living outside of the U.S.,” said Christopher Dickey, “but I come back to hear how people are thinking and talking about what I report. The problem is that often people don’t know where I’m talking about, let alone what I’m talking about.” Dickey, an award-winning author and the Paris bureau chief and Middle East regional editor for Newsweek magazine spoke to a riveted crowd in the Chapel on Feb. 22.

  • A photograph by Visiting Assistant Professor of Art Kathryn Parker Almanas was featured in the Winter 2010 issue of Gastronomica: The Journal of Food and Culture. The photo,   "Cauliflower, 2006," was published within a supplementary section that features the work of 17 contemporary artists.

  • Kenji Yoshino, the Chief Justice Earl Warren Professor of Law at the New York University School of Law, will give a lecture titled “Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights” on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m., in the Science Center's Kennedy Auditorium. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Diversity and Social Justice Project and Diversity Initiatives, and is free and open to the public.

Franklin’s paper, titled "Black Subjectivity and the Significance of Voice," focused on the role of various expressions of voice in relation to the consciousness and agency of black youth.

  • Hamilton’s Mock Trial team participated in regional mock trial competition February 13-14 at Syracuse University, with two team members winning special recognition. The team finished in 11th place out of 24 teams. The top eight teams advanced to the next round.

  • Associate Professor of French Joseph Mwantuali gave an invited lecture at Mount Holyoke College on Feb. 18, titled “The Congo in the Colonial Imagination and the Response of the Congolese National Literature.” He discussed a range of topics including history and politics of colonization in the Congo and their relation to the present tragedy and the responses of the Congolese artists and writers.

Lane Twitchell, Deb Kass, Nina Katachadorian, An My Lei, and Nicole Eisenman welcomed students into their studios to discuss works of art in progress. The Dietrich Foundation and the Kirkland Endowment supported this event.
