Cornelia Louisa Keane Lowerre ’09
Cornelia Louisa Keane Lowerre ’09, a marine archaeologist and diving instructor of New York City and Miami, Fla., was the daughter of Ursula and Paul Lowerre, owners of the Peconic Bay Vineyards; her father is also an investment banker. Lowerre graduated from the Hewitt School in New York City.
At Hamilton, Lowerre focused her studies in anthropological archaeology and was a member of Alpha Theta Chi. She went on to attend the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science where she earned a master’s degree in marine affairs and policy with an emphasis on the management of underwater cultural heritage. Her thesis documented the cataloguing of the HMS Fowey, a British vessel that sank in Biscayne Bay, Fla., in 1748.
Lowerre worked on numerous research projects with the National Park Service. She also was a scuba diving instructor and taught many aspiring sports divers in the U.S. and Mexico, sharing her love of the oceans and the marine ecosystems, a published obituary noted. She also worked with social media for her father at the UBS financial group.
Cornelia L. K. Lowerre died on March 25, 2018, from a cardiac condition. She was 30 years old and is survived by her parents and a sister.
