Stacey Marie Williams '90

Stacey Marie Williams '90, a former editor and a political activist, was born on May 30, 1968, in Sydney, Australia. The daughter of Richard V., a financial system manager, and Audrey Joan Williams, a paralegal, Stacey Williams grew up in Wilton, CT, where she was graduated in 1986 from Wilton High School. Interested in public affairs as well as journalism, she spent a summer working as a Congressional intern in Washington before entering Hamilton with the Class of 1990. While pursuing her bachelor's degree, she took leaves of absence to enroll in courses at the College of William and Mary and Fairfield University. Majoring in history, she received her diploma from Hamilton in 1991.

Upon graduation, Stacey Williams moved to Westport, CT, and was employed for six years as an editor for Scientific American's medical section. It prompted a personal interest in medicine, which led her to complete a premedical program at New York University. With a great affection for animals and fond of nature, she was often seen with her dogs in Westport's Winslow Park or enjoying the sunshine and sands of local beaches. At the time of her death, she was planning to further her interest in animal rights as well as health-care reform by attending law school. Devoted to a variety of liberal political causes, she contributed countless hours of her time to the Democratic Party and such organizations as moveon.org.

Stacey M. Williams' life was ended on March 1, 2008, at the age of 39. In addition to her parents and stepfather, John Parker, she is survived by two brothers, Kevin and Matthew Williams.
