Event Description

This two-day hybrid workshop brings together scholars from around the globe to discuss modern receptions of the ancient Medea myth through the lens of Intersectionality. Medea was a woman in a patriarchal society, an exile and non-citizen, in some traditions racialized as Other, a priestess with deep connections to nature, and a mother who committed filicide in many versions of the myth. This workshop aims to present scholarly works-in-progress on revisioned Medeas in modernity, with robust discussion.
