Hamilton’s Student Fellowships Coordinator will work with you to identify and apply for nationally and internationally competitive opportunities.
International Summer Research Funding
This new program is designed to support second- and third-year Hamilton students who wish to conduct summer research outside the United States in locations such as universities, government agencies, museums, archives, art galleries, archaeological and historical sites, research libraries, laboratories, and field sites.

William Ford ’10 has been awarded a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship to Malaysia. He is a religious studies major at Hamilton.

Meredith Kivett ’10, a candidate for May graduation, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to South Korea. She is a psychology and Hispanic studies major at Hamilton.

Erica Kowsz ’11 has been awarded a national Beinecke Scholarship. The Beinecke Scholarship Program was established in 1971 by the board of directors of The Sperry and Hutchinson Company to honor Edwin, Frederick and Walter Beinecke. Each Beinecke scholar receives $4,000 immediately prior to entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school. In the 2010 competition 83 students were nominated and 20 awards were given.

Emily Johnston, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Germany.

Stephen Okin '10, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright Grant to Barbados. He will pursue a master’s degree in integration studies at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus in Barbados. Through his project Okin seeks to understand the role regional cooperation plays in the eastern Caribbean, which faces unique challenges due to its history, geography and limited resources. Specifically he’ll focus on security cooperation by volunteering at a regional security organization.

Katharine Dilyard ’10, a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Russia. Dilyard is a world politics and Russian studies major at Hamilton.

Hamilton students are having an impressive year in being named the recipients of national fellowships and scholarships. Among the awards are the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, Fulbright grants and NSF Graduate Research Fellowships.

Two Hamilton seniors, Phillip Milner and Tom Morrell, have been awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. Milner is a chemistry/math double major who will be starting a Ph.D. program in chemistry in the fall, at an institution yet to be determined. Morrell is a chemistry major who will begin a Ph.D. program in chemistry at Princeton in the fall.

Taylor Adams ’11 and Deborah Barany ’11 have been named Barry M. Goldwater Scholars for the 2010-11 academic year. They are among 278 scholars from across the U.S. to receive the Goldwater, the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering. Kevin Graepel ’11 received honorable mention.
Topic -
Lydia Rono ’11 has been awarded a Davis Peace Project Fellowship program grant of $10,000. Through her project, titled Education for Peace, she hopes to build one secondary school classroom and one rest room in Barekeiwo Village in Kenya, thus qualifying Barekeiwo High School for Kenyan government educational funding. This would supplement the one classroom and one staff room already built by the community.
