Sarah Atkinson received her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, M.A. from the University of Chicago, and Ph.D. from Yale University. She works on intersections of film, literature, and painting in Italian culture with an emphasis on linguistic diversity, women artists, translation, adaptation, and cities. Through an affiliation with the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University, she is also studying Italian film reception in the Caribbean. Atkinson has taught Italian language and culture at Villanova University, Yale University, SUNY Stony Brook, and the University of Chicago. As an active translator in Italian, Spanish, and English, she loves to incorporate writing workshops in her courses. At Hamilton, she is eager to explore feminist ethics of translation and adaptation in the context of Italian cities (Naples, Rome, Venice).
