Han Dong received his B.S. and M.S. in computer science from University of Maryland Baltimore County, and Ph.D. in computer science from Boston University. His research interests are generally in operating systems and distributed systems. Specifically, Dong is interested in tackling the sustainability of datacenter-scale computing with a focus on improving a system's overall performance and energy efficiency. Toward this, he works in the interface between software and hardware and employs systems optimizations and machine learning techniques to improve upon existing software-hardware heuristics.

Prior to joining Hamilton, Dong was a postdoctoral associate at Boston University and worked as a researcher for Red Hat for three years. He also worked as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellow in the Division of Imaging and Applied Mathematics at the Food and Drug Administration for two years.
