De Bao Xu

De Bao Xu joined the faculty in 1995 after receiving an undergraduate degree from Taiyuan Teachers’ College in China, a master’s degree from Beijing Normal University and a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is author or co-author of 10 books and more than 80 papers on theoretical linguistics, Chinese linguistics and teaching Chinese as a second language. Co-editor-in-chief of the Contemporary Linguistic Theory Series, Professor Xu has chaired several international Technology and Chinese Language Teaching in the 21st Century conferences, the first of which was hosted in 2000 at Hamilton. He is now a distinguished professor at the University of Macau, China.
