Event Description

The Levitt Center invites you to join us for lunch and a talk by Luke Perry, Distinguished Professor of Political Science at Utica University entitled "The 2024 Presidential Elections: Key Issues and Regional Dynamics". This talk will share insights from Dr. Perry's election research with Palgrave MacMillan, including his edited volumes that examine contemporary presidential elections for his book series Palgrave Studies in U.S. Elections. Relevant scholarship tends to examine presidential elections in national terms with a heavy focus on economic variables. Dr. Perry's work applies a regional approach to presidential elections that helps understand the tribalism that has come to define modern politics and the intricacies of building a victorious path to 270 Electoral College votes. While the economy is important, this work illuminates how various issues, processed sub-culturally, fundamentally shape and reshape presidential campaigns and elections over time.

RSVP here for lunch.
