Event Description

Early Friday morning, Hamilton College will witness a total lunar eclipse! In celebration, Professor Adam lark will host an eclipse party from 1:00 AM until 3:00 AM.
The eclipse will begin at 1:09 AM when the moon enters the Earth's shadow, gradually becoming obscured until it reaches totality at 2:26 AM. It will remain fully eclipsed for an hour, likely displaying an eerie red glow, known as a blood moon. We will open the dome to our 20-inch Planewave telescope and set up many of our 4-inch telescopes, to ensure that everyone will have multiple chances to look at the moon during all phases of the eclipse. It promises to be a beautiful morning for anyone willing to brave the hour!
Peters Observatory is located on Peters Lane, just 0.3 miles up the hill from the bronze map on College Hill Road. We hope to see you then!
