Did You Get The Scoop?

Did you get the scoop? Free speech meets free Cremeria at the DMC’s latest event “Get the Scoop!” On Monday, October 14th, our Multicultural Fellows hosted a fun (and very informative) night of Kahoot where participants had an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about free speech and expression, test their knowledge, and compete to win a Euphoria gift card. Our wonderful Multicultural Fellows kicked off the event with some introductions and thus began the iconic Kahoot tune.

To set the foundation, our first Kahoot of the evening focused on the intricacies and implications of the First Amendment and national law. Moving into our second Kahoot we turned our sights towards Hamilton’s speech, expression, and newly updated protest policies. Finally our third Kahoot allowed us to contextualize Hamilton’s policies within the broader scope of our national policies leading to engaging group dialogue regarding how the two intersect with and affect our day to day lives on the Hill. 

Our knowledgeable participants made this a close competition, but the real victory was seeing students share their knowledge about the First Amendment, learn from one another, and discuss ways to use their rights to advocate for social change.
