  • Greg Casey ’09, founder and first president of Hamilton Microfinance, met with current members of the organization when he visited campus in April. The students heard first-hand how Casey started the organization and how it has influenced his post-grad plans.

  • To celebrate NCAA Division III Week, Hamilton’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a mini-golf event in the Field House on April 10. More than 100 students  along with faculty and staff and their families participated.

  • The Hamilton Mathletics team won first place in the annual Snow Bowl competition, edging out teams from Colgate University, Skidmore College and St. Lawrence University. Each team’s top five scores on the William Lowell Putnam Exam, given in December, were added together to determine the winner.

  • Hamilton’s Powder Club took 38 students to Killington, Vt., in January for a three-night ski trip. Killington is home to some of the East Coast's finest skiing and snowboarding terrain.

  • Jared Mandelbaum ’18, Mr. HOC, was the victor in the annual Mr. Hamilton competition, held on Feb. 17 as part of FebFest. He prevailed over Mr. Track, Colin Horgan ’19, Mr. Psi U, Alan Yecies ’17, Mr. Philanthropy Committee, Jose Olivares ’16, Mr. Culinary Society, Thomas Hoffman ’16, Mr. HAVOC, Alan Yeh ’18 and Mr. Buffers, Sean Rose ’19.

  • Nine Hamilton College students attended the annual Harvard National Model United Nations Conference in Boston, Feb. 11-14. The conference brought together students from 70 different countries to participate in simulations of United Nations committees.

  • Just days after arriving on campus after the winter break, members of Hamilton Microfinance (HMF) met with Tom Owens, CEO and president of ACCESS Federal Credit Union, to evaluate the club’s first loan application of 2016. After reviewing the application, the group voted unanimously to provide a $2,500 loan to Rudy (for Rudy's privacy, the club is not disclosing his last name), who plans to use the funds to buy machinery for his farm.

  • The Hamilton Association for Volunteering, Outreach and Charity (HAVOC) recently donated $1,026. to the Utica Public Library for its backpack exchange program.  The early literacy program offers themed activity backpacks for infants to children age 5.  Each backpack includes books, musical CDs, activities list and educational toys. These are borrowed by parents and caregivers to expand the library experience to the home.

  • Delegates of Hamilton College’s Student Assembly attended the bi-annual New York Six Student Government Conference held at Union College  on Nov. 6. St. Lawrence University student government representatives also attended. Hamilton was represented by José Olivares ’16, Lillie Piper ’18 and Annalie Garcia ’19.

  • Seven students from Hamilton’s Microfinance organization attended Lend for America’s 7th Annual Summit at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, on Nov. 7 and 8. Hamilton attendees were Arthur Williams ’16, Enjay Ofoleta ’16, Flavia Oliveira’16, Sarah Magee’18, Elizabeth Tran’18, Joey Rokous’18 and Ifeoluwa Aiyelabowo ’19.
