  • The Performing Arts at Hamilton College announces an exciting roster of world-class professional performances for its 2005-06 season. From classical Indian music to multimedia musical spectacle, the Classical Connections and Contemporary Voices and Visions Series have something that everyone will enjoy. All performances are general admission and held at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts on the Hamilton campus at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

  • The Hamilton College Orchestra will present the third annual Brainstorm! concert on Sunday, March 6 at 3 p.m. at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. Conducted by Heather Buchman, this narrated concert, titled Brainstorm! An Exploration of Music and Nature, will focus on how composers are influenced by the environment. The program for this concert will include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral,” Mahler’s Blumine, and Aaron Copland’s Down a Country Lane. This concert is free and open to the public.

  • The Hamilton College Performing Arts series opens the spring semester with the Bang on a Can All-Stars on Friday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m. at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • The Hamilton College Orchestra will present a concert titled "BRAINSTORM! A Sense of Time" on Sunday, March 7, at 3 p.m. at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. "BRAINSTORM!" is a concert format that the orchestra introduced to Hamilton last year, in which the orchestra explores a topic with connections to multiple disciplines, interspersing discussion with musical examples of each piece to be performed in order to illustrate how the issues raised are reflected in the music. 

  • Hamilton College’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present its 2004 Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 5, and Saturday, March 6, at 8 p.m. at the Schambach Center for the Performing Art’s Wellin Hall.

  • The Performing Arts at Hamilton continues the Classical Connections series on Friday, Feb. 27, with a performance by the Elements Quartet at 8 p.m. at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. The Hamilton program will feature excerpts from Elements’ recent “Snapshots” project in which the quartet commissioned 15 composers to each write a 2-5 minute piece inspired by a photo they own.  Like a good snapshot, each selection will capture a fleeting feeling or moment in time. The second half of the program is devoted to Beethoven.

  • The Hamilton College Performing Arts Series continues its Contemporary Voices and Visions series on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 8 p.m. with a jazz concert by Albany-based Alex Torres and the Latin Kings at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. As part of this engagement, there will be a free Latin percussion demonstration on Friday, Oct. 31, at noon in the Fillius Events Barn.

  • The Contemporary Voices and Visions Series at Hamilton College continues on Saturday, October 25, at 8 p.m. with a performance of the Seán Curran Dance Company in collaboration with the Mohawk Valley Dance Partnership. It will take place at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • The Hamilton Classical Connection concert series opens on Saturday, October 4, at 8 p.m. at Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts with a performance by Piffaro, the Renaissance Band. Piffaro specializes in the rich, varied repertoire of the Medieval, Renaissance and early Baroque periods (1400 to 1625) using colorful combinations of early wind and stringed instruments.

  • The Hamilton College Performing Arts Series starts off the Contemporary Voices and Visions series on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. in Wellin Hall with the Hachioji Kuruma Ningyo Puppet Theater, starring Shinnai musician Tsuruga Wakasanojo XI and master puppeteer Nishikawa Koryu V.
