Alumni Trustee Candidates
(three to be elected)
The Alumni Council has nominated three candidates to serve as members of Hamilton’s Board of Trustees.
Each alumni trustee elected will serve a four-year term beginning on July 1, 2013.
Angela Valenziano Ross ’79, P’13,’15
After graduating with a Spanish major and spending her Junior Year in the Hamilton Program in Madrid, Angela earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University. She then continued on to do a residency in orthodontics in Boston and became board certified in 1999. A practicing orthodontist, she is the owner of Family Orthodontics, P.A., in Minneapolis and has associate orthodontists who also work in her practice. A generous supporter of the College and class co-president, Angela is a member of the Alumni Council and has been an active reunion and Annual Fund volunteer for Hamilton. She and her husband Scott are also members of the Parents Advisory Council. They live in suburban Minneapolis, where they are regular hosts for alumni and career-related events. Their son Matthew is a member of the Class of 2013, and younger son Zach is in the Class of 2015.
Montgomery G. Pooley, Jr. ’84, P’16
Monty’s career has included positions with Procter & Gamble, WebVan, H. J. Heinz and Sara Lee, where he served as president of the North American Retail and Food Service business. Monty is currently EVP and chief commercial officer of Shearer’s Foods. Since graduating, Monty has assisted with admission and Career Center efforts and in 2009 received the Annual Fund Chairman’s Award for leading the Class of 1984’s very successful 25th reunion giving effort. Monty and his wife Kate Hinchcliff ’85 serve as vice chairs for the Annual Fund, and in July 2013 they will assume chair responsibilities. They live near Pittsburgh with their three children, including Annie, a member of the Class of 2016.
Jack R. Selby ’96
An economics major, Jack worked in the investment world following graduation before moving to California, where he joined a few friends in a new venture that became PayPal. There he was senior vice president for corporate and international operations. After PayPal was purchased by eBay, Jack and PayPal founder Peter Thiel started Clarium Capital Management, where he remains a managing director. He is also a partner at Valar Ventures, managing director at Grandmaster Capital Management and chairman of Incognito Pictures. He is a trustee of Leadership Public Schools in the Bay Area, and he has generously hosted receptions for Hamilton’s president at his home in Arizona. Jack served as chair of the Class of 1996’s 10th Reunion Gift Committee and is an Annual Fund class agent for ’96, a Career Center volunteer, and a member of the Alumni Council and the Annual Fund’s National Leadership Committee. He is also a Joel Bristol Associate.
In accordance with Article 8 of the Constitution of the Alumni Association, alumni may submit additional nominations for alumni trustee by petition, each of which requires at least 25 signatures of association members. To be valid, a petition must be submitted by Jan. 6, 2013, and include the signature, class year, address and telephone number of each petitioner, along with a statement by the proposed candidate consenting to be nominated. Each petition may nominate only one candidate and should be directed to the Secretary, Hamilton College Alumni Association, 198 College Hill Road, Clinton, NY 13323. If no nominations by petition are received, a mail ballot election will not be necessary.
