The Upstate-Global Collective offers summer research fellowships that are six to 10-weeks in length. The collective is an initiative of the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium and aims to create scholarly communities across its member schools.
They include Colgate University, Hamilton College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, St. Lawrence University, Skidmore College and Union College. Student researchers will work alongside faculty mentors across the consortium to explore themes with rich historical roots in Upstate New York – and with current consequence worldwide.

Fellows are required to do eight weeks of full-time research during the summer, although some positions run from six to 10 weeks. Students who are awarded a fellowship receive a $3,600 stipend, or $450 a week. The opportunity is open to students actively enrolled in and in good academic standing at any of the New York Six schools. Specific qualifications will vary by position. More information, including a detailed list of available research positions, can be found at the NY6 Liberal Arts Consortium website.

Applications are due in late February. Fellowship finalists will be notified by mid March. If you have any questions, please email the project manager, Nell Bartkowiak, at nbartkow@newyork6.org.

Help us provide an accessible education, offer innovative resources and programs, and foster intellectual exploration.
