Group therapy is a powerful treatment that allows people to connect deeply with themselves and with others. As one of the most effective treatments for a variety of concerns, we offer a diverse array of groups throughout the year that are focused on personal growth, skill development and peer support.

Prospective group members are required to attend a pre-group information session. This is a brief meeting with the group leader before group begins that provides information about the group, and helps determine if the group is a good fit for your needs. If you are interested in a group, please contact our Office Manager at 315-859-4340.

Fall 2024 Groups

Understanding Self & Others

Fridays, 2-3:30pm
Michael Saltzman, Ph.D. and Amanda Knapp, Psy.D.

This group is for individuals who are interested in learning more about their own identities, processing personal experiences, and better understanding different approaches to interpersonal interactions. Members can give and receive interpersonal feedback, examine patterns of interaction that may be impeding personal growth, practice new behaviors within the safety of the group space, and learn how to communicate more effectively both within and outside of the group.

Yoga-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Y-CBT)

Fridays, 10-11:30am
Amanda Knapp, Psy.D.

Y-CBT is a six-session group program that engages the mind-body connection by combining the practices of Kundalini yoga, meditation, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety. Over the six sessions we will review anxiety and coping strategies, examine aspects of CBT such as cognitive distortions and reframes, discuss how anxiety impacts our relationships and intrinsic value, and practice several breathing techniques and meditations. The yoga poses within Y-CBT are completed in a seated position to promote safety and physical inclusivity.

Powering Down

Mondays, 9-9:45am
Amanda Knapp, Psy.D.

A group for students who have previously completed the Y-CBT group. We will practice some of the Kundalini yoga poses and meditations from the Y-CBT group, along with other meditative and mindfulness practices, with the goal of prioritizing time in our busy weeks to tune-in and decompress.

Knit Happens

Mondays, 3-4pm
Kate Rossi, Psy.D.

Learn to knit to cope with anxiety! Students will be provided with materials. No prior experience required.

Knit Hits the Fan

Thursdays, 3-4pm
