The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of NESCAC matches on April 12 and 13.

The Continentals (12-5, 1-4 NESCAC) edged Colby College 5-4 at Hamilton's Gray Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon and lost 9-0 against nationally ranked No. 1 Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., on Sunday.

The Continentals' victory against Colby set a team record for wins in a season. Hamilton posted an 11-1 record in 1997-98. It was also the first triumph against a NESCAC team since the Continentals defeated Wesleyan University on Sept. 11, 2004.

Hamilton and the Mules were tied 4-4 until Sara Shaughnessy '14 defeated her opponent at fourth flight singles, 6-4, 6-1. Shaughnessy also teamed up with Meg Lee '14 for an 8-6 victory at first flight doubles.

Bella Schoning '16 and Liz Detwiler '15 blanked their third flight doubles opponents, 8-0. Schoning was also a 6-1, 6-3 winner at second flight singles. Rachel Friedman '15 accounted for the Continentals' other team point with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at fifth flight singles.

Hamilton travels to No. 4 Amherst College for a NESCAC match on Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m.
